Tuesday Family Devotion

Scripture Reading - Matthew 19:13-15

Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.  Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Thought of the Day
Last time we learned that we are all called to spread God’s Word in the world. We know that Jesus meant this for all people, including even the smallest children because of this story. Jesus knew that children are important and he paid attention to them and loved them. He wouldn’t let the disciples send them away but welcomed them. In our world sometimes children are ignored. You may have been told, “I’ll tell you when you are older,” more than once. But Jesus knows that you are always old enough to learn about God and to help spread His Word.

Discussion questions
1. When is a time when you felt left out because you were a kid?

2. What are some special ways that kids can help tell about God’s Word?

3. How would you have felt as a kid if Jesus had come to talk to you personally?

Prayer
Loving Jesus,
You see the good and value in everyone, even the smallest people. Thank you for loving the children and taking time to be with them. Help us to recognize that all kids can hear about you and share your Word because you love them. Thank you for loving us. AMEN.
